Meta has fixed a security issue in its AI-powered support assistant after reports that hackers used the chatbot to access Instagram accounts, including several high-profile ones. Attackers reportedly manipulated the tool to add a new email address to target accounts. They then used the chatbot to reset passwords, gaining control without needing the original email. The problem surfaced after users on Reddit and X described a series of hijackings over the weekend. Affected accounts included the Obama-era White House Instagram page, the account of the US Space Force’s Chief Master Sergeant, and various desirable usernames.
