A 58-year-old Rongmei Naga man was shot dead by armed attackers in Kangpokpi district of Manipur on Monday. According to officials, residents of Pongringlong Part-I, a Rongmei Naga village in the Kuki-majority district, had entered the woods around 6:40 a.m. to gather firewood when gunmen opened fire. Most villagers fled, but Chungjanglung Panmei was struck and disappeared. Police began a search and recovered his body at 1:30 p.m. It showed four bullet wounds, indicating he was shot at close range. The remains were sent to Imphal for autopsy.
