A Sudanese national arriving at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport early Thursday was isolated and taken to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad after fever was detected during thermal screening of international arrivals.

The case prompted speculation about Ebola, but health officials clarified the passenger is not classified as a suspected Ebola patient. Precautionary testing is underway due to travel history and symptoms.

The Airport Health Officer said the traveler in his thirties was identified during routine surveillance. He had arrived from Ethiopia after recent visits to Uganda and South Sudan.

The passenger reported fever for two to three days but showed no other symptoms typical of viral hemorrhagic fevers. He was isolated and referred to the hospital for evaluation, the officer stated.

Gandhi Hospital Superintendent N. Vani confirmed it is not a suspected Ebola case. The traveler came to Hyderabad for medical treatment and is being handled under standard public health protocols.

Samples have been sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology for testing. Results are expected within 48 hours. If negative and the patient remains stable, discharge with home quarantine advice may follow.
