Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan inaugurated World Milk Day events on Monday and urged steps to boost the state’s milk output to 10 million litres daily within three years. To meet this goal, the government plans to close the production-demand gap. Current figures show daily production at 7.01 million litres against a demand of 8.6 million litres. He emphasized providing quality cattle feed and increasing fodder grass cultivation, with priority given to the Dairy Development department. Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Bindhu Krishna highlighted the dairy sector’s role in food security and health during the event. She encouraged youth to appreciate milk’s benefits. World Milk Day, established by the UN FAO in 2001, is observed annually on June 1. Other attendees included officials from the dairy sector.
