Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital led the round. Co-leaders include Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ and XN. Other major investors include Baillie Gifford, Blackstone, Brookfield, D.E. Shaw Ventures, DST Global, Fidelity, General Catalyst, Insight Partners, Jane Street, Lightspeed, MGX, Temasek and T. Rowe Price. The latest round includes $15 billion of previously committed investments from hyperscalers, including $5 billion from Amazon. Strategic infrastructure partners Micron, Samsung, and SK Hynix also participated in the round. The funds will go toward safety research, expanded compute capacity, and scaling up products and partnerships. The infusion takes Anthropic past OpenAI, whose most recent funding round in March put the ChatGPT maker at $852 billion. Founded in 2021 by Dario and Daniela Amodei, the company has gone from a seed valuation of around $1 billion to the edge of a trillion dollars in under four years. The Series H is expected to be Anthropic’s last private fundraising before an IPO. Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has raised $65 billion in its latest funding round, at a post-money valuation of $965 billion, putting it well ahead of rival OpenAI. This funding will help us serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens, said Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s chief financial officer. The company’s valuation has more than doubled from $380 billion in February, reflecting its swift rise as a leading competitor in the AI race and intense investor demand for stakes in frontier companies. Anthropic said its run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier this month. Hemant Taneja, CEO of General Catalyst, said this is the largest single investment in the firm’s history.
