When Apple convenes its developer conference at its Cupertino, California headquarters on Monday, attention will center on an anticipated redesign of Siri. The voice assistant, introduced in 2011 and available on most of the company’s 2.5 billion active devices, has not kept pace with rivals from OpenAI and Anthropic. Users in China and other markets increasingly rely on advanced AI agents to handle schedules and routine tasks.

Analysts note that Apple holds extensive personal data on each iPhone, including emails, messages and calendar entries. This information could improve Siri’s relevance and task performance. However, privacy protections limit access to such data by both third-party apps and Apple itself without explicit user consent.

The company’s task is to harness this data while preserving security. Technology analyst Patrick Moorhead said Apple must improve Siri and also create tools that let developers integrate AI features. Data, he added, supplies the context needed for stronger results.

Apple’s stock has risen about 50 percent over the past year, outperforming Microsoft but trailing Alphabet. Observers expect Monday’s announcements to include a conversational mode for Siri and options for sharing personal context. Analyst Andrew Cornwall anticipates that developers will gain ways to connect apps to Siri and select external AI models.

Apple is also likely to emphasize practical user benefits rather than raw technology. Commentators say the company will avoid early promotion of agent-based systems still facing security questions, viewing them as premature for consumers.
