The rules for using BCN.media

1. About BCN.media

BCN.media (Bharat Chronicle Network) is an independent, founder-led digital news platform covering India and the global Indian community. Our website and daily e-paper are free to read.

2. Using our content

Our stories, e-paper editions, graphics and branding are protected by copyright and other laws. You may:

• read, download and print our content for your own personal, non-commercial use;
• share links to our stories on social media, by email or in messaging apps;
• quote short extracts for comment, criticism or news reporting, with clear credit to BCN.media and a link to the original story.

Unless we agree in writing, you may not:

• republish, sell or distribute our content, in whole or in substantial part;
• copy our content systematically using scrapers, bots or other automated tools;
• use our content to train artificial intelligence systems;
• remove credits or copyright notices, or present our work as your own.

3. Accounts

If you create an account, keep your login details private and give accurate information. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or appear to be fake or automated.

4. What you send us

When you send us a tip, correction, comment, application or other message, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it is not unlawful. We may use the information you send to research and report stories. We will not identify a confidential source without their permission.

If you submit content for publication, such as a comment or letter, you allow us to publish, edit for length and clarity, and display it on BCN.media. We may decline or remove any submission.

5. Acceptable use

Please do not:

• post or send anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful, threatening or harassing;
• impersonate BCN.media, our team or anyone else;
• try to disrupt, hack or overload the site, or get around any access limits;
• send spam or malicious software.

6. Advertising and sponsored content

Advertisements and sponsored stories are always clearly labelled. Advertisers are responsible for their own ads and claims. Our advertising terms are agreed separately with each advertiser.

7. Accuracy and advice

We work to make our reporting accurate, but news changes quickly and mistakes can happen. We correct errors when we find them; you can report one on our corrections page. Some of our production uses AI tools, as described in our Editorial Standards.

Nothing on BCN.media is legal, financial, medical or other professional advice. Opinion pieces are the views of their authors.

8. Links and embedded content

Our pages may link to or embed content from other websites and services, such as YouTube or social media. We are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.

9. Availability and liability

We provide BCN.media "as is" and cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, BCN.media is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

10. Paid services

BCN.media does not currently sell subscriptions or other paid services to readers. If we introduce them, we will publish separate terms first.

11. Copyright concerns

If you believe something on BCN.media infringes your rights, email info@bcn.media with "Copyright notice" in the subject. Include the work concerned, the page address, your contact details and a short explanation. We will review it promptly.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as BCN.media grows. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the updated terms apply.
