The video game Crimson Desert has been updated with a new patch introducing difficulty options, better inventory handling, improved visuals for far-off landscapes, refined controls, and various other enhancements and corrections. This update is currently available on all platforms except Mac, which will receive it later, according to developer Pearl Abyss. The company outlined these changes in a developer update earlier this month.
Key features in Patch 1.04.00 include new difficulty modes: Easy, Normal, and Hard. The Hard mode offers a more demanding and exciting combat experience for players seeking greater challenges, as stated in the patch notes.
The update also introduces expanded storage options, a feature highly requested by the community. These include specific containers for gathered items, consumables, and collectibles, plus a dedicated space for outfits in the wardrobe. Additional upgrades affect the Greymane camp and introduce more pet varieties.
Further additions encompass control presets for keyboard/mouse and controllers, with the original setup preserved as a Classic option. The patch refines controls and combat mechanics, along with fixes for issues related to each character.
Inventory management sees significant improvements with the addition of six category tabs: All, Documents, Equipment, Food, Materials, and Others. This change aims to streamline item organization and access. Other user interface and minimap enhancements are included.
On the visual side, the update improves the rendering of distant objects and textures, making them sharper on higher settings. It also enhances lighting for hair and the appearance of characters viewed from afar.
The patch resolves numerous stability problems and gameplay bugs, with a full list available on the game’s official site.
Pearl Abyss previewed these updates in an earlier developer communication. More enhancements are scheduled for release between April and June. The South Korean developer has provided consistent updates since the game’s launch on March 19, significantly evolving it from its initial version.
Thanks to ongoing support, Crimson Desert has surpassed 5 million sales across PC, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Mac platforms, achieving this milestone last week within a month of release.
