Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commented on an assassination attempt targeting U.S. President Donald Trump, which took place on Saturday evening at the Washington Hilton in the United States.
Modi used the social media platform X to voice his support for the American leader and to denounce acts of violence within democratic systems.
‘I am relieved to know that President Trump, the First Lady, and the Vice President emerged safe and uninjured from the security event at a Washington, D.C., hotel,’ Modi stated in his post.
‘I offer my hopes for their ongoing security and health. Acts of violence are unacceptable in democracies and deserve outright rejection,’ he continued on his official X profile.
The statement follows a turbulent night in Washington, where an armed individual fired shots outside the Washington Hilton amid the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, prompting the evacuation of Trump and Vance from the location.
