Peel Regional Police announced the dismantling of a violent international extortion ring tied to the group ‘For Brothers’, resulting in charges against 17 non-Canadian men. All appear to be of Indian origin. The network targeted South Asian business owners and residents in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, British Columbia, and areas linked to California. The investigation began in December 2025 after repeated threats against restaurants and trucking companies that refused demands. One alleged incident involved a shooting and arson at a Caledon residence, followed minutes later by another shooting at a Brampton business. The 17 accused are connected to 24 incidents, including 16 violent ones with arson and shootings that discharged 324 rounds. Six individuals may face immigration proceedings after their criminal cases conclude. The Canada Border Services Agency detained six for inadmissibility issues, leading to three removals, two remaining in custody, and one released on conditions by the Immigration and Refugee Board.
