OpenAI has observed strong growth in the use of its AI coding tool Codex within India. The firm noted that weekly active users there rose 27 times from the start of 2026, with daily interactions expanding more than 20 times by late April. Adoption extends beyond software engineers to include founders, operators, researchers, students, and business teams applying the tool to accelerate project results, according to Thomas Jeng, Head of Startups for Asia-Pacific at OpenAI.
