New classical productions explore compelling themes.

Aayam will present ‘Nrityadhara 3’, an annual Bharatanatyam showcase conceived and directed by guru Sindhu Mishra. The event celebrates learning, lineage and the spirit of Bharatanatyam through rhythm, expression, devotion and storytelling, featuring more than 100 dancers.

The programme opens with a guru stuti inspired by Meerabai, followed by a chatusra alarippu, a jathiswaram in ragamalika, an abhinaya piece ‘Krishna nee begane baro’, and ‘Shivashtakam’ based on Adi Shankaracharya’s hymn. Younger performers will present ‘Angikam Bhuvanam’, a pushpanjali to Lord Ganesha, and the evening concludes with Kalinga Nartanat thillana.

‘Nrityadhara 3’ takes place at LTG Auditorium, New Delhi, on June 5 at 6.30 p.m. Entry is free; registration is available on Aayam’s website.

Nrityantar Dance Ensemble will stage the Odissi production ‘Draupadi’s Mahabharata… the epic that began with her’ on June 7 at 3.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. at Jagriti Theatre in Bengaluru’s Whitefield. The work retells the Mahabharata from Draupadi’s perspective, tracing key events as a continuous moral journey.

The choreography blends Odissi grammar with sculptural precision, layered abhinaya and theatrical flow. Music and rhythm are composed by Rupak Kumar Parida and Guru Dhaneswar Swain. Tickets are available on BookMyShow.

The Centre for Peace and Performing Arts will present ‘Rhythms of Life’, a two-hour fusion of opera, Odissi and Bharatanatyam, on June 5 at 7 p.m. at the same Bengaluru venue. The production explores phases of human existence through music, movement and storytelling, including original works ‘The Child Within’ and ‘She Exists’. Tickets are available on BookMyShow.
