Three Air India narrowbody aircraft parked at Terminal 2 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport were damaged on Sunday when ground support equipment struck them amid sudden strong winds and rain, according to the airport operator. All three planes were removed from service following the incident. The operator stated that equipment from Air India Engineering and IndiGo shifted position due to the abrupt weather change and collided with the parked aircraft. Air Traffic Control had issued no prior warning about the weather shift. Air India declined to comment. A source indicated that planes from other operators were also affected, with two of the three Air India aircraft expected to return to service soon while the third requires more time for repairs.
