During a meeting of the opposition alliance on Monday, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge presented a plan to strengthen unity against the central government after recent assembly election losses. Twenty-three parties participated as Kharge called on leaders to build resistance to alleged central misrule. He noted that on April 17, 2026, the group had shown solidarity in Parliament by opposing certain government bills on delimitation. Kharge stressed the need to maintain that unity to address political, economic, social and foreign policy issues attributed to central policies.
