Three BJP candidates were declared elected unopposed to the Rajya Sabha from Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. The returning officer rejected the nomination of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan, citing failure to disclose a pending court case. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear her challenge on Friday. The BJP had nominated Mahesh Kewat to contest against her. Congress responded by moving its 66 state legislators to Karnataka to prevent any possible defections. The three BJP members later collected their election certificates from the returning officer.
