During the FIFA World Cup matches held across the United States, Canada and Mexico, many players have appeared in pink or pink-toned boots from brands including Nike, Adidas, Puma, New Balance and Skechers. Early games featured athletes from South Africa, Mexico, Brazil, Belgium, Morocco, Canada and the United States choosing the color. Nearly all Canadian players wore pink in their opener, as did several United States team members in a Group D fixture. Brazilian players also selected pink boots for a Group C contest against Morocco. A Nike executive explained the choice as an effort to highlight bold shades that boost confidence and ensure high visibility on the pitch. The color contrasts with most team kits and stands out against the grass for spectators and television viewers. While most squads use traditional colors, one team incorporated pink accents in training wear. Two prominent stars are using different footwear: one in white and light blue with gold details, another in all-gold boots.
