The parents of Siya Goyal, the main accused in the murder of her fiance Ketan Agarwal in Pune, have spoken publicly for the first time. They stated they had no knowledge of any relationship between their daughter and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary. They said Siya had repeatedly told them she liked Ketan and wanted to marry him before the wedding was arranged.

In an interview with India Today TV, Siya’s mother Pooja Goyal said the family knew Siya and Chetan had met at a cricket tournament but believed it was only a friendship. She added that the family asked Siya for her consent at least ten times before fixing the marriage. Siya reportedly replied each time that she liked Ketan and had no involvement with anyone else.

Ketan Agarwal, 26, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune. Police initially treated the death as an accident but later arrested Siya and Chetan on charges of pushing him off the cliff during a trek.

Siya’s father Praveen Goyal said he had never met Chetan and had no information about any relationship. He explained that the marriage proposal came from relatives during family weddings in Goa and Karjat. The families agreed after discussions, leading to an engagement in February.

Praveen Goyal recalled that Ketan visited their home often and was treated like a son. He said the Agarwal family never raised concerns about Siya’s phone use with them. The parents stated they saw no signs of trouble during the engagement and had begun preparations including shopping and a planned trip.

They claimed the Lohagad trek was Ketan’s idea. Siya initially hesitated due to other plans but was encouraged by Ketan’s mother. Praveen Goyal said he was shocked by the arrest and was briefly hospitalized.
