The Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test scheduled for June 28 has been postponed by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination in Pune following reports of a possible question paper leak. The move follows allegations that exam-related material was found with individuals in Thane district. Authorities are checking whether the recovered items match the actual test paper or represent only a practice version. The decision on next steps will depend on this review.
The issue surfaced after police raided a location in Bhiwandi on June 27. Council staff joined the operation, and initial findings indicated that some questions held by suspects aligned with those prepared for the 2025 exam. A case has been filed at Bhiwandi police station, and investigations continue to trace the source of the leak.
Deputy Commissioner Priya Shinde stated that registered candidates will not face extra fees or need to reapply for the rescheduled test. She noted that a new date will be set soon, as organizing an exam of this size usually requires about three weeks. Strict measures will be taken against those involved, with three people already named in the case. The council has also begun its own inquiry.
The council emphasized that fairness in the examination process remains its main concern. If verification confirms the papers are genuine, the exam may be cancelled and police action strengthened. Candidates are advised to check only official sources for updates, as a revised schedule will be released after the probe concludes.
