The planned Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor is projected to reduce travel time between Jewar and Lucknow to 100 minutes. The project, revealed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Union Budget 2026-27, will route through Jewar. Work is already advancing on the nation’s first bullet train line, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced at an event in Jewar that the Delhi-Varanasi line will enable the Jewar-Lucknow journey in one hour and 40 minutes. He further noted that Delhi to Lucknow travel would take two hours and 10 minutes once operations begin.
