Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday unveiled the Delegation of Financial Powers to DRDO (DFP-2026). The measure is designed to increase efficiency, accountability and prompt delivery of key defence research and development initiatives.
The announcement arrives while DRDO advances several major programmes, including Project Kusha, the AGNI series of intercontinental ballistic missiles, Netra Airborne Early Warning and Control systems and the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft.
A Defence Ministry statement quoted Singh as saying the framework will accelerate production and integration of equipment, platforms and technologies developed by the research sector into the armed forces.
