A Lashkar-e-Taiba militant was killed Wednesday in a joint counter-terrorism operation involving the Shopian Special Operations Group, Army Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district. The clash occurred in the Chanapora area after forces responded to gunfire during a search. A body and weapons were later found at the site. Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the outcome on social media, stating one Lashkar militant had been neutralised. Identification of the deceased is underway while cordons remain in place and searches continue. The action follows other recent operations across the region, including the ongoing multi-agency Operation Sheruwali in Rajouri district’s forested Dorimal area of the Manjakote sector, launched in late May.
