Filmmaker Christopher Nolan introduced The Odyssey in Mumbai on July 10, 2026, joined by prominent Hollywood actors. The Indian premiere featured Tom Holland and Matt Damon, who joined Nolan in addressing the crowd and expressing thanks for the positive response. Nolan shared his wish to present one of his films in India. Holland highlighted the lively atmosphere created by local film enthusiasts in theaters. Damon noted the importance of the occasion as the first screening before a genuine public audience, following an earlier private showing for relatives. This Mumbai event represented Nolan’s initial chance to launch a film in the city. The Odyssey is set for screenings across India on July 10 and 11. Universal Pictures International selected Mumbai as one stop on its worldwide tour, alongside London, Paris, and New York. Nolan told attendees this marked his first opportunity to premiere a film locally, making them among the earliest viewers worldwide. He jokingly asked which of his two stars performed better before praising both. He thanked the large turnout and described the excitement of returning to India, where he had visited twice previously. Each trip had left a strong impression, and he had long hoped to screen one of his works here. He called Indian viewers among the most passionate and informed filmgoers anywhere due to their deep appreciation and involvement. Holland also expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting the distinctive energy Indian crowds bring to screenings and their consistent support for Nolan’s projects. He added that he looked forward to the film becoming a sequel. Damon described the gathering as meaningful after the family-only preview, as this was their first encounter with a public audience. The film opens in Indian theaters on July 17, 2026.
