The Full Tariff Rate scheme offered by Indian Railways allows groups to reserve an entire train or individual coaches for exclusive use. Managed through IRCTC, the service supports destination weddings, religious pilgrimages, educational tours, corporate events and tour operators. A complete train may include up to 24 coaches, including two mandatory SLR coaches. Even smaller groups are charged on the basis of an 18-coach minimum. Single-coach bookings are also possible, subject to operational clearance. Advance reservations can be made up to six months ahead, with a minimum notice of 30 days. Registration alone does not guarantee allotment. Registration fees start at 50,000 rupees per coach for trips of seven days or less, or nine lakh rupees for a full train. All applications are processed via the dedicated FTR portal. Refunds, when approved, are handled manually by the Chief Commercial Manager according to current tariff rules. Applicants must submit journey details, pay the required deposit and await feasibility confirmation from Indian Railways before final payments.
