The rival groups within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes in Kerala show no signs of compromise as the impasse continues after the Ernakulam Munsiff court stayed the operations of the ad-hoc committee established during the June 21 general body meeting in Kochi.

Tensions escalated when actor Shwetha Menon, who petitioned the court claiming the committee violated association rules, objected to actor Ansiba Hassan joining the case. The situation intensified after Menon stated she would retain the presidency despite announcing her resignation at the meeting.

Actor and MLA Ramesh Pisharody, who stepped down as convener of the ad-hoc committee due to the court order, plans to argue before the court that Menon cannot exercise authority after publicly resigning along with the executive committee. He will also note her reported resignation from primary membership. The next hearing is set for July 27.

An ad-hoc committee member confirmed on Tuesday that he has avoided the Kochi headquarters since the July 3 stay order.

Menon’s leadership dismissed claims of administrative paralysis, stating officials visit the office on alternate days to handle aid distribution and medicine supplies.

Rebel faction members said they will decide their next moves only after the court ruling, noting the committee was created at the annual general body meeting following Menon’s resignation announcement.
