A video posted on social media has triggered broad discussion after an Urban Company technician alleged that a female colleague was refused use of a client’s bathroom following three hours of work at the residence. The post stated the customer instead directed her to the security guard’s facility and later assigned a one-star rating.
The incident reportedly occurred at a home in Delhi. The accompanying caption on X claimed the one-star review resulted in the worker being prevented from accepting assignments on the platform for five days.
The post read that the customer declined the request, suggested the guard’s washroom and issued the low rating, leading to the temporary block. It called for an immediate review of the penalty.
In the video, another Urban Company technician expressed surprise, noting she had never faced such restrictions despite working in numerous homes over six years. She urged clients to permit washroom access for visiting workers and questioned the impact of a single negative review on future bookings and income.
The clip has prompted online debate about the treatment of gig workers. Some users advocated greater empathy, while others highlighted security concerns and differing household policies regarding private facilities. The platform’s policy reportedly expects customers to allow washroom use when needed.
