Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a strong criticism of the Samajwadi Party regarding its remarks on the theft of donations at the Ram temple. He accused the opposition of double standards and pointed to its past actions concerning religious matters.

“They fired on Ram devotees, and today they are talking about faith,” Adityanath stated at Panchayat Aaj Tak on Wednesday.

He referred to the 1990 police firing on karsevaks during the Ayodhya movement, ordered by then Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Official records indicate at least 17 deaths in the clashes.

Adityanath noted that the embezzlement had affected devotees’ sentiments but said authorities responded swiftly by forming a Special Investigation Team, arresting six suspects, and taking further moral measures.

He further charged opposition parties with obstructing Ram temple construction and allowing namaz at Hanuman Garhi temple steps, calling their approach one-sided.
