The Congress-led Kerala government has raised objections to metro man E Sreedharan’s plan for a 60,000-crore-rupee solar rail corridor, citing doubts about its economic and environmental viability.
Last month, authorities set up an expert panel to examine the DMRC interim report on the proposed high-speed rail link from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur. The state has chosen to pursue the DMRC plan after ending all work on the SilverLine project of the previous administration.
Chief Minister V D Satheesan said the committee concluded that the project cannot proceed in its current form.
