The Cockroach Janta Party, leading demonstrations over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and related exam concerns, submitted a memorandum on Monday to Health Minister JP Nadda. It called for the release of activist Sonam Wangchuk, the dismissal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and one crore rupees in compensation for families of NEET candidates who reportedly died by suicide after the leak.
The document was presented shortly after thousands of demonstrators assembled near Parliament Street and tried to advance toward Parliament to demand accountability for alleged exam irregularities and Pradhan’s resignation. Police used barricades, baton charges, and tear gas to halt the advance.
A CJP group met Nadda and delivered the memorandum listing three main demands: Wangchuk’s unconditional release, Pradhan’s resignation or removal, and compensation for affected families. Nadda posted on X that talks began at the protesters’ request around 11:50 am.
The memorandum also urged an end to what the group called excessive force against peaceful demonstrators. Nadda described the meeting as cordial and encouraged protesters to lift their sit-in.
The events occurred alongside a lengthy meeting between Pradhan and Home Minister Amit Shah. Demonstrators continued slogans despite police action, and authorities later cleared areas near Jantar Mantar.
The CJP began its campaign on June 6 over national exam irregularities and later expanded to other cities. It cited repeated issues, including the NEET leak, CBSE portal problems, and CUET delays, as evidence of systemic shortcomings.
Wangchuk joined the Jantar Mantar protest on June 20 and started a hunger strike on June 28. Police took him to Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday after his condition declined on the 23rd day of the strike.
After the meeting, the CJP delegation called the discussion positive and expressed hope for government action while urging supporters to stay calm.
