An Indian-origin physician in Toledo, Ohio, received a six-month jail sentence after admitting to secretly recording women in hospital employee restrooms. Advait Deshmukh pleaded guilty to one count of attempted evidence tampering and seven counts of voyeurism. The judge imposed three years of probation, required 15-year sex offender registration, and mandated attendance at Sexaholics Anonymous meetings along with ongoing treatment. Deshmukh expressed remorse to the victims before sentencing. His lawyer requested probation instead of jail, citing ongoing therapy. Six victims were identified. One employee described lasting trauma, including constant checks for hidden cameras and distress over possible image distribution. The case surfaced in June 2025 when a staff member found a phone hidden in a box inside a unisex restroom. Deshmukh tried to claim the device. Investigators recovered 82 unauthorized images taken from February to May 2025. At the time, Deshmukh was a third-year medical resident at the University of Toledo. The institution placed him on leave and later declined to renew his residency.
