A Texas social media influencer voiced strong disapproval of an advertisement for an Indian Independence Day event in Frisco. The flyer, posted in a private Facebook group for Prosper and Celina residents, stated that the August 15 celebration would be way better than America’s Independence Day.

Influencer Kaylee Campbell said the comparison was inappropriate. She argued that visitors to the United States should not claim their own festivals surpass the holiday honoring the country where they now live, and suggested such individuals should return to their country of origin. Campbell described the statement as contrary to assimilation, which she said many Americans expect from newcomers.

Some Indian-Americans also condemned the wording. One commenter expressed agreement that the phrasing was wrong and voiced gratitude for the opportunity to live legally in the United States while respecting its citizens.
