Thirty-nine pilgrims returning from the Amarnath Yatra suffered injuries on Tuesday morning when their bus left the road and plunged into a gorge near Gund village on the Srinagar-Baltal route in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police reports indicated the vehicle carrying around 40 passengers lost control after the driver missed a curve. Jammu and Kashmir Police, paramilitary units, the Army and local volunteers reached the site promptly and shifted the injured to hospitals.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that he had spoken with the Deputy Commissioner of Ganderbal and health officials. He confirmed 39 pilgrims were under treatment at SKIMS following the accident at Ganiwan.
