Actor and director Akhil Marar, who ran without success as a Twenty20 candidate in the 2026 Kerala Assembly election, has cut connections with the Kitex Group-supported political group and made serious claims against party president Sabu M. Jacob.

During a media interaction beside an event in Thrikkakara on Tuesday, Marar said he was first offered the Kottarakara seat, then Tripunithura, before being placed in Thrikkakara, where the party had slim prospects. He accused Jacob of becoming unreachable after the vote. Marar added that he sold his motorcycle worth 20 lakh rupees for half the price to cover campaign costs, which were later repaid.

Jacob dismissed the claims as baseless and said the party covered all candidates’ campaign expenses in full. He confirmed Marar had asked for Kottarakkara and Tripunithura but chose Thrikkakara after being told he could decline.
