Restaurant group My Delhi has entered the Birmingham market by acquiring the established Itihaas restaurant. The deal follows a search for a successor announced three months earlier by Itihaas director Raj Rana. The Itihaas name will continue, all current staff will keep their positions, and the focus on heritage and reputation will stay central. The new ownership includes My Delhi founders Elahi Amin, executive chef Gaurav Dayal, Shah Amin, Gaurav Goyal and Neha Goyal. My Delhi plans to share its long-term plans for the business in 2026. Rana, who opened Itihaas in 2004, said the restaurant had been a major part of his life and he sought a team that would respect its values and support its people. My Delhi, started in Newcastle in 2019, has expanded rapidly with sites in Sunderland and Leicester plus a planned opening in Leeds. It is known for its modern approach to Indian cuisine. Elahi Amin said the group had long admired Itihaas and intended to preserve its legacy while investing in its future.
