One day after an RTI activist requested an inquiry into Abhijeet Dipke’s family finances, the Cockroach Janta Party founder stated that a Boston University scholarship and an education loan covered his studies in the United States. In an interview with senior journalist Barkha Dutt, Dipke dismissed suggestions that unexplained family wealth paid for his overseas education. He said his studies were supported by a Boston University scholarship and an education loan that he must repay. Dipke also shared a copy of his scholarship letter. On August 1, Surat resident Amit Tiwari lodged complaints with several authorities, including the Maharashtra government, calling for an investigation into the finances of Dipke’s father, a retired junior engineer at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation. Tiwari questioned how a government employee with a monthly salary of around Rs 60,000-65,000 could fund higher education for his children in the US. Dipke also spoke about future funding for the CJP, saying the party would rely on crowdfunding from the public and maintain full transparency. He noted that much of the support during the nationwide anti-NEET protests came from ordinary citizens who donated food and brought their own water. Dipke further claimed that some Delhi Police personnel privately offered support by providing water bottles without revealing their identities, citing sympathy for the cause. The party’s finances face greater scrutiny following Kapil Sibal’s announcement of a Rs 1 crore legal aid fund for arrested protesters. The RTI activist has also contacted the Election Commission regarding the CJP’s legal status and the aid from Sibal. CJP spokesperson Vaishnavi Gaur accused the activist of targeting a private individual and suggested similar scrutiny for the PM CARES Fund. The party described the complaints as politically motivated.
