The Delhi Legislative Assembly has introduced an AI-driven system for real-time transcription and translation known as BHASHINI. Speaker Vijender Gupta stated this makes the body the first in India to apply the technology for improved legislative operations. The test pilot shows the assembly’s focus on innovative tools that support more effective and inclusive processes, Gupta noted at the opening of the monsoon session. He described the effort as the first trial of BHASHINI’s live system in any legislative house nationwide. The pilot includes evaluation of transcription accuracy and overall system function. Any issues found will be reviewed and resolved, the speaker added. Feedback will guide further adjustments to suit the assembly’s needs before wider use is considered. If the trial succeeds, the assembly may examine similar AI solutions for other operations.
