India’s Ashmita Chaliha delivered a determined performance to claim her first BWF World Tour title, defeating fourth seed Han Qian Xi of China in the women’s singles final of the Korea Masters Super 300 in Asan on Sunday. The 26-year-old from Assam overcame an early deficit and a decisive third game to win 14-21, 21-14, 21-14 in a 53-minute contest. This result follows another Indian success in the Taipei Open the previous week. Chaliha trailed after losing the opening game but responded with stronger attacking play in the second, building a lead at the interval and closing it out 21-14. The decider remained tight until she pulled ahead with precise shots and secured the match point when her opponent hit wide. Chaliha had recovered from knee surgery in 2024 and returned to competition earlier this year. She has since reached quarterfinals in China and Malaysia before this breakthrough. She trains at the national centre in Guwahati under coach Park Tae-Sang.
