A video depicting the assault and stripping of a transgender individual by a gym owner and associates has circulated widely on social media platforms in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The event occurred at a local gym on August 7 amid a disagreement concerning damage to a vehicle.
The complainant reported being summoned to the gym upon learning that details regarding the car’s vandalism had been discovered. Footage reveals the victim enduring repeated strikes, kicks, pushes, and having clothing removed by the perpetrators.
The victim claimed that upon arrival, tensions rose, leading the gym operator and helpers to verbally abuse and physically attack them. The accused allegedly struck with fists and feet, used hockey sticks, ripped garments, and disrobed the individual.
According to the report, the victim’s adopted brother informed them on August 7 that a car had been damaged outside the gym. The victim proceeded there with two companions. Later, the operator allegedly contacted them with information about the vandal and requested their return.
Upon returning around 10 p.m., an argument ensued with several men present, including Ashwani Sharma, Sushil, Ankit, and Ajay. Objections led to abuse and assault, including with hockey sticks, molestation, and torn clothes.
Authorities initiated an inquiry following the video’s appearance online. Investigations confirmed involvement in a fight, with the complaint under review for appropriate measures.
Charges were filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rioting, causing hurt, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation.
