Two young members of the Cockroach Janata Party began an indefinite hunger strike on August 6 against the leadership of founder Abhijit Dipke and the formation of the party core team. The protesters, Manish Brahmabhat and Rahul Pandya from Ahmedabad, were hospitalized on August 10 after their health declined. They had demanded five representatives from each state in the core team. The protest later shifted to the Divisional Commissionerate area following police advice. Three other youths continued the action through a relay hunger strike. Separately, the Police Boys Association held a silent protest in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on August 11, calling for the withdrawal of Dipke’s security and legal action against him. The group objected to his remarks about police conduct near his residence on August 7.
