Lisbon: Portugal football star Cristiano Ronaldo announced his marriage to longtime partner Georgina Rodriguez on Tuesday. He shared an image on his official Instagram account showing the pair holding hands while wearing rings. The post carried the caption “C❤️G”. Ronaldo featured for Portugal at the FIFA World Cup 2026, where the team exited in the round of 16 during July. Spain secured a quarterfinal place with a 1-0 victory thanks to a late goal by Mikel Merino. Ronaldo, who had stated this would be his final World Cup appearance, left the field visibly emotional after the defeat. Portugal’s previous World Cup results under his involvement included a fourth-place finish in 2006, round-of-16 exits in 2010 and 2018, a group-stage exit in 2014, and a quarterfinal run in 2022. His World Cup career spanned 27 matches and 11 goals.
