Jhathavedh Subramanyan has been bowling many overs since starting sessions with R. Ashwin around August last year. The Vida Kovai Kings leg-spinner has delivered 20 to 25 overs per session, testing variations in his action to strengthen his leg-break.

He noted that higher volume allows more chances to experiment. The 26-year-old altered his load-up by bringing the ball closer to his body. This adjustment lets him spin the leg-break more while keeping the googly effective and pitching the ball over the stumps.

The shift matters because his googly once turned the most. He cited his dismissal of N.S. Chaturved against Madurai Panthers as proof, using a leg-break that turned nearly five degrees to stump the batter.

Jhathavedh said the sessions with Ashwin are enjoyable and light-hearted. Born in Hong Kong, he described meeting and now training under Ashwin as a childhood dream come true.
