Spotify announced Tuesday it will begin placing “AI Persona” labels on select artist profiles from mid-September to inform listeners whether the creator is artificial. The streaming service noted user concerns over profiles that appear human but are actually AI-generated personas. Labels will show on profile banners, About sections, search results and track rows in playlists. Starting Tuesday, artists can declare an AI Persona status via Spotify for Artists. The platform will also review profiles using photorealistic AI imagery. AI Personas will be excluded from editorial and algorithmic recommendations unless users follow them. Flagged artists will receive notice and can self-disclose or appeal. Listeners can see if disclosure came from the artist or Spotify review. The badge reflects public identity rather than music production methods.
