The Karnataka Health Department has widened its food safety inspections statewide, targeting government canteens, luxury hotels and delivery warehouses in Bengaluru. Checks at Vidhana Soudha and Vikas Soudha found cockroach problems on plates and in kitchens, plus missing pest control at the legislators’ hotel. At Arogya Soudha, expired goods such as idli rava and coconut powder were found in unclean storage. Indira canteens were reviewed and a Zepto warehouse in Gottigere was closed for handling and labelling breaches. Zomato warehouses were also examined. Health Minister U.T. Khader said the campaign will reach hostels and other public eateries to improve standards across the state.
