Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Saturday that India aims to host the 2036 Olympics and will launch a nationwide talent search to find promising athletes aged 5 to 15. The goal is to boost the country’s presence at the Games. Speaking from the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day, he noted that the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, started in 2014, has successfully supported athletes. India is advancing in sports through events like the Khelo India Games and programs in training, medicine, and nutrition. The leader highlighted improving results and plans to compete in three-quarters of Olympic events by 2036, up from current gaps in many disciplines. A talent hunt using artificial intelligence for fitness tests will identify young prospects across the country for specialized training. India is also set to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, which is bidding for the 2036 Olympics. Focus areas include aquatics, cycling, rowing, and gymnastics. The Sports Ministry has scheduled multiple international events in India over the coming months.
