At least seven people died and several others were injured when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a container truck in Jharkhand’s Latehar district on Saturday evening, police reported. Initial reports indicate the auto-rickshaw was heading from Chandwa when it struck an oncoming container truck. Local residents described the impact as severe, with several passengers trapped under the container. The incident caused panic, prompting villagers to alert police and district officials. Chandwa police station in-charge Manoranjan Prasad Singh and personnel reached the site and began rescue and relief work with help from locals. Seven people were confirmed dead at the scene, while others sustained injuries whose conditions remain unclear. Authorities are identifying the victims and verifying the number of passengers.
