Ten autorickshaws were given to women recipients during the 80th Independence Day celebrations as part of the Pink Auto project in Mysuru on Saturday. Rotary Mysore Metro, Taliru Foundation and Automotive Axles jointly launched the effort to help women move toward financial self-reliance and away from hardship. Project chairman Mohan Gurumurthy said the initiative aims to give women sustainable income sources and greater self-respect. The vehicles were presented at Urs Gymkhana during the Independence Day event. Organizers noted that true freedom includes relief from poverty and daily struggles, and the project seeks to support women as stable earners for their families. The program covers candidate selection, driving instruction, license acquisition and vehicle purchase support. Sponsors fund the initial payment while nationalised banks or finance partners handle the balance through loans. Taliru Foundation representative Chitra said the goal is to supply women with skills and assets for lasting independence and dignity. Representatives from Rotary clubs and Automotive Axles attended the handover.
