A complaint has been submitted to the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police against the state BJP president over comments made about the chief minister and his mother at a party event in Chennai. The complainant asked authorities to secure digital records, examine the statements under relevant laws, and start criminal proceedings for defamation. The issue arose after the BJP leader spoke at the party headquarters, responding to the chief minister’s earlier assembly remarks that referenced the DMK president following the party’s 2026 election loss. During the event, the BJP president suggested that questions about a father’s whereabouts should be directed to one’s mother at home rather than raised in the legislature. The complaint described the comments as offensive and urged police to review audio and video from the gathering. The chief minister’s prior remarks had already drawn criticism from several parties. A state minister called the latest statements inappropriate, while a former BJP leader said they exceeded acceptable political conduct by involving family members and described them as regressive.
