Liverpool Football Club has reached a definitive agreement to sell a minority equity stake to a consortium led by British-Indian businessman Amit Bhatia. Prominent investors include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The 46-year-old Bhatia, son-in-law of Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, manages 1892 Holdings. This entity includes K5 Sports from the K5 Global Fund with Bezos as lead investor, and EE Capital, the family office of Elaine and Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. Fenway Sports Group will retain majority ownership and operational control. The investment supports the club’s long-term growth. Bhatia stated pride in partnering with FSG and respect for its achievements. FSG president Mike Gordon noted the consortium shares the group’s philosophy and appreciation for Liverpool’s identity. The deal connects figures from global business and technology sectors. FSG acquired the club in 2010 for 300 million pounds and has overseen successes including the 2020 Premier League title and 2019 Champions League win.
