American actress Hayden Panettiere, recognized for performances in the television series Nashville and Heroes, has died at age 36, according to U.S. media reports on Sunday citing a statement from her father.
The statement expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a beloved family member described as a bright presence who brought joy to those around her and to audiences worldwide.
No details on the cause of death were provided. Her representatives have not yet replied to requests for comment.
Panettiere began as a child performer and first gained notice voicing a character in the 1998 Pixar film A Bug’s Life. That work led to a Grammy nomination.
She rose to prominence portraying Claire Bennet, a cheerleader with extraordinary abilities, in the NBC series Heroes that premiered in 2006. Additional film credits include Remember the Titans.
She received Golden Globe nominations in 2013 and 2014 for her portrayal of Juliette Barnes in Nashville. She also appeared in the Scream film series.
Her latest role was in the thriller Sleepwalker, released earlier this year.
Her brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, passed away in 2023 at age 28.
