Medical Dialogues had recently reported that as part of a major expansion of medical education in the Union Territory, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Friday that the government is taking concrete steps to strengthen the foundations of the healthcare sector. This year, 548 new medical seats will be added to increase educational capacity.
This announcement was made during the budget presentation in the Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister had stated , “This year, we are adding 548 medical seats to increase educational capacity”.
