Documents reviewed by Janes and shared with sources close to Komisi I DPR RI indicate that the Ministry of Finance of Indonesia approved the financing framework for the acquisition on 25 September 2025. The deal is estimated to be worth approximately USD100 million for a single coastal defence battery, marking another major export opportunity for Indiaβs flagship missile system.
Public confirmation of the planned purchase emerged recently when Indonesian media outlets reported statements from Rico Ricardo Sirait. According to reports published on 9 March, Indonesia has agreed to procure the BrahMos missile system from India as part of its broader coastal defence modernization efforts. While Indonesian authorities have acknowledged the agreement in principle, the Ministry of Defence of Indonesia has not yet responded to detailed queries regarding the contract structure or delivery timeline. Sources indicate that the contract has not yet formally entered into force, as it is still awaiting the required initial down payment.
The BrahMos acquisition program will be represented locally in Indonesia by PT BTI Defence, which will act as the domestic consultancy partner supporting the program. The company is expected to assist with local coordination, technical support, and integration activities once the contract is finalized.
